Decision No. 2571/QD-UBND of the People's Committee of Quang Binh Province, dated September 14, 2023, approves the investment policy and at the same time approves the investor for the ACV to implement the project "Building a second passenger terminal (T2) and expanding the aircraft apron at Dong Hoi Airport" in central Quang Binh Province.

The project is being deployed on an area of more than 15 hectares, with total investment capital estimated at over VND1.84 trillion. It will be mobilised from the development investment fund of the ACV.

Covering over 17,500 sq m, the T2 terminal is designed to serve 3 million passengers per year and is capable of expanding to increase the capacity to 5 million passengers after 2030 if needed.

Construction of the T2 terminal is scheduled to start in the third quarter of this year, with completion set for the first quarter of 2026.

The expansion of the aircraft apron is expected to take 17 months, with construction coinciding with the schedule for the T2 terminal.

The existing terminal of Dong Hoi Airport is capable of serving 500,000 passengers per year. However, it is currently overloaded, with the airport having served more than 750,000 passengers last year.

According to ACV leadership representatives, the implemented project will act as an important foundation for Dong Hoi Airport to improve its future development, consistent with the general development of the aviation industry, and also a driving force to contribute to socio-economic development, especially for tourism - the key economic sector of Quang Binh Province./.
