General Director of Samsung Viet Nam Choi Joo Ho made the above statement during his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha in Ha Noi on Monday.

Choi hailed the Vietnamese Government on its issuance of the Decree on direct power purchase agreement (DPPA) between renewable-energy electricity producers and large electricity consumers.

Regarding his company's business performance over the past time, Choi said Samsung Viet Nam owns six production facilities and one R&D center with total investment of US$22.8 billion.

Samsung Viet Nam reported an export turnover of US$33.5 billion in the first seven months this year, up 5 percent year-on-year.

For his part, Tran said, Viet Nam will accompany and encourage businesses to promote green transition and reduce carbon emissions via introduction of regulations on emission limits, carbon credit market, carbon tax policy, green finance, and land incentives.

He suggested foreign businesses, including Samsung Viet Nam, to continue making proposals to immediately remove difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing the DPPA mechanism; towards developing the competitive retail electricity market in the country.

Tran suggested Samsung continue investing in centers for research and technology transfer for newly-emerging industries such as semiconductor chips./.
