It has been five years since the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) came into effect, and Vietnam’s exports to countries in the pact have improved significantly. However, there is still much room and potential to further tap into this trade agreement in the future.

Ho Chi Minh City continued to lead the country in terms of export earnings in 2023 with 42.46 billion USD, although this result still decreased by 10.8% compared to 2022, according to the Vietnam Import-Export Report 2023 announced by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT)’s Agency for Foreign Trade on May 16.

The southernmost province of Ca Mau is striving for an average export growth rate of 5-6% per year in the 2021-2030 period and export turnover of 1.73 billion USD by 2030.

A strategy to 2030 sets sustainable targets with a balanced import-export structure in order to sharpen competitive edge and bolster brand development for Vietnamese products. The idea behind the plan is to raise Vietnam’s position in the global supply chain and serve as momentum for sustainable economic development. The target has been set at an average export growth rate of 6-7% to 2030.
