Viet Nam’s trade value with other ASEAN Member States saw a year-on-year increase of 35 percent in January, reaching US$6.81 billion, statistics of the General Department of Customs showed.
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, from the beginning of this year to February 15, the country's total trade valued topped 72 billion USD, with export turnover standing at 37 billion USD and a trade surplus of nearly 1.7 billion USD.
China has remained Vietnam’s biggest trade partner, while Vietnam has continued to be the sixth largest trade partner of the neighbouring country, and the biggest in ASEAN despites impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical upheavals in the world. Two-way trade was valued at 165.8 billion USD in 2021, up 24.6% from the previous year.
Total export-import turnover in July reached 60.36 billion USD, up 6.1% year-on-year but down 6.8% month-on-month, according to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO).
Trade value between Viet Nam and ASEAN hit nearly US$42 billion in the first half of 2022, according to the General Department of Customs under the Ministry of Finance.
