The northern border gates have been restored after three years of stagnation, helping Vietnam's import-export turnover with China through the northern border provinces increase by 242% in the first quarter of this year over the same period last year.
According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, from the beginning of this year to February 15, the country's total trade valued topped 72 billion USD, with export turnover standing at 37 billion USD and a trade surplus of nearly 1.7 billion USD.
In Jan-February, there were nine export commodities recording turnover of at least 1 billion USD, accounting for 71.6 percent of the total export value.
